At North Sea Clothing, we source the best craftsmen and raw materials that we can find for our products, working closely with our craftsmen to achieve products in which we believe.

The Leather
We use premium grade English bridle leather. It's fully vegetable tanned, traditionally pit tanned, hand stained and hand finished using tallow and natural oils, which creates a subtle and mellow leather that will improve with age and use. Please note the bloom that sometimes appears is a sign of quality and not a fault. It's the natural oils coming out of the leather. Simply burnish with a soft cotton cloth.

The Hardware
We use marine grade 316 stainless steel, designed to the highest technical level for performance.

The Process
North Sea Clothing accessories are all bench made by artisanal craftsmen in England. The products are all hand stitched (no sewing machine used) involving the use of two needles and linen thread treated with natural beeswax. The work is then held in a clam (a wooden handheld saddler's vice) while the stitching is done. This is a highly skilled job, carried out by a single craftsman. This type of stitching is stronger and more flexible than machine stitching. All the edges of the work are hand creased (this is the decorative tooled line at the edge of the leather) using a heated handheld tool. Edges are then stained and burnished, by hand, to finish.
